Hollywood Health Center To Offer Free Flu Vaccines for Low-Income Members of the Los Angeles Community

 

WHO: QueensCare Health Centers and the QueensCare Health & Faith Partnership is offering free flu vaccines at their Hollywood health center to prevent people from falling ill from the flu.

 

WHAT: The flu is a highly contagious viral infection, which during the 2017 – 18 flu season claimed the lives of more than 80,000 people and hospitalized 900,000, making it one of the most deadly flu seasons in the last four decades. Flu symptoms can often include a fever, sore throat, cough, muscle pain, fatigue and body aches. Children and the elderly are particularly susceptible to complications. In fact, of the children that are hospitalized, 80% are not vaccinated. According to the CDC, getting a flu shot can reduce the risk of a person’s infection by 40 – 60 percent.
